Conditions:

 

Coastal/wind hardy. Ok in full sun - part shade. Turns a darker brown in winter. Cone photos taken in September. Ball photos taken in March.

Features:

 

NZ native & well suited to a wide range of NZ conditions. Evergreen, with brown green leaves, which turn darker / browner in winter. A good alternative to Buxus.

 

Design Ideas:

 

Great for hedging & topiary, in classic and contemporary native gardens. Combine with other textured greens and grasses. Mixed balls go with Pittosporum "Golf Ball", Abelia "Snowtime", Buxus "Green Gem", Corokia "Geentys Green". OK in pots or planted in the ground.

Care:

 

Easy care. Moderate growing, trim quarterly.
